With the world being so conscious about his health, more and more people are tuning in to the many benefits to be gained from Nordic walking . For your own security , there are some precautions that you must take, in case you encounter someone who does not have good aims on you while you are doing your Nordic walking. This is especially important if you usually do your Nordic walking alone , as this can make you even more of a potential victim.
One important things that you can do , is to to tell someone that you are leaving for your Nordic walking, and which way you are planning to take. This way, if you are not returning in a reasonable amount of time, they can search for you. Take your dog with you if you have one, as he will benefit from the exercise, and can discourage unwanted company.
Do not take a lot of unnecessary things with you at the time you do your Nordic walking. Do not take your wallet, and leave behind any jewelry , at home. Not to make you fearful , but many assaults and robberies are designed well ahead of time , using the victim's schedule in order to know when to strike.
Do not be tempted to walk in isolated, concealed spots. Choose in its place large public places
that are open in every direction. You never know who may be lying in at the end of a passage or at the back of a dumpster, so it is best to avoid those and other like areas altogether.
If you do your Nordic walking when it is dark outside, be sure you only go in areas that have sufficient light and people around. Stay away from abandoned parking lots, dark sidewalks, etc.
Someone is much less likely to harm you if there are witnesses around to see.
If you walk on the street , you should walk opposite the oncoming traffic , rather than with it. By facing traffic, you can see what is coming for you, and response correctly.
When you are Nordic walking, all the times keep an eye out for what is near you. If you see any person who appears to be suspicious, then you are better off , to stop your Nordic walking for this day, and go home, or even better yet, to a public place, such as a grocery store or mall. If you do listen to music while you are Nordic walking, do not have the volume up so loud that you can not hear the sounds around you.
As you may never be the victim of a violent crime, and may feel that you live in an area where crime ever occurs , you still can not go wrong by learning and practicing some preventative measures.
