Turkish Airlines was established not long before World War II broke out, in May of 1933. With only four aircraft capable of taking 23 passengers in total, they had a humble start. 1945 was the first time they added any new aircraft to their fleet. Currently, they took reception of a Boeing 777-300ER, the first of twelve, that is the most advanced intercontinental airplane. The company has become more and more profitable over the past five years, largely due to their aggressive route expansion strategy. Turkish Airlines has made significant progress since the days when they had only four aircraft and they have clearly learned valuable lessons along the way.

October of 2010 saw the announcement that Turkish Airlines will continue to expand their reach during 2011. Of course that is great news for this rapidly growing European airline. The Turkish Ministry of Transport released the news of eleven new destinations this year. Starting in March, Turkish Airlines will fly to Shiraz, Iran four times a week. In reference to the United States, there will be 4 new flights a week going to Los Angeles, CA beginning in early March. ...
... This is convenient for going to the United States' western coast. Additional countries include China, Greece, Spain, France and three destinations in Italy. Negotiations between the English soccer team, Manchester United, and Turkish Airlines were finalized in October 2010 which resulted in a three-year contract. Turkish Airlines and Manchester United will team up to create a high-tech TV ad that will show the new business class concept the airline has developed. This is an exciting time for both organizations for many reasons. This new series of commercials will feature top players enjoying the fine amenities available for Turkish Airlines' business class passengers.

Turkish Airlines has implemented a new form of traveling referred to as Comfort Class. This latest service offering is available with the airline's new Boeing 777 aircraft. With seats that are just under 46 inches, this makes it a completely new approach to flying in style. Passengers basically have four feet of seat available to them for themselves and anything else they have with them on the flight. It is important to note that Boeing 777 airplanes are large aircraft and are suited to long flights. If you are a Turkish Airlines Miles and Smiles card owner, then you can convert any miles you have accrued into a seat in Comfort Class.
