Tibet is a land of ancient Buddhist culture and the proud people of Tibet have over the years honed their skills with jewellery pieces that are both elegant and beautiful. Many of the Tibetan jewellery pieces are part of the Tibetan folklore and represent an aspect of their cultural heritage like few other things. This is an item that is worn both by the rich and the famous as well as the common man since it is believed wearing this brings good luck and good fortune to the wearer. The primary metal used for Tibetan jewellery is pure silver however one should know that Tibetan silver is not the typical 925 silver people are used to. The typical Tibetan silver is an alloy that is made by mixing nickel and some copper and even looks a little different from the normal silver commonly available. What makes Tibetan jewellery different from others is the fact that all items from this part of the world are completely handmade. What draw people to this style of jewellery is the ornate and intricate designs the craftsmen make on them. It is common to see jewellery from Tibet carrying designs and motifs that have elements of Buddhism in them.

Many of the items of Tibetan jewellery are made with semi precious stones and usually stones of bright colours that look regal and royal in comparison to subdued jewellery from other places. Anyone who visits this region, and especially the woman, often come back with a horde of Tibetan jewellery because they find the unique design and structure irresistible. Stones of turquoise blue, coral red and emerald green are hot favourites for the people here. Some of the silver jewellery here has very intricate handmade carvings showing Buddhist motifs that can really astound you with their beauty. This is fast becoming a very popular item for many parts of the world.
