How Wi-fi Over 3g Can Help You Save Battery?
People have become so obsessed with gadgets and gizmos these days that a joke goes around that a child takes birth with a cell phone in hand. With technology helping people communicate with the rest of the world in just micro seconds, it is no surprise that ipads and iphones have become a rage in such a short time after their invention. However, if there is one thing which people crib about occasionally, it is the shoddy battery life which these gadgets have. Smartphones, Android-based phones, iphones and tablets have all got pretty short battery life and so most people have to buy power bank china or an external battery pack for ipad for travel-related purpose.
But not many of you would be aware that by switching from 3G to Wi-Fi, you can cut down on the battery use. These devices support internet in two ways. You can either access the net using a 3G sim or you can turn the Wi-Fi on and try connecting to an available network. There are pros and cons to both. A 3G sim helps you to access the internet easily on the run while a Wi-Fi enabled connection ...
... is dependent on your location and on the presence of a network. It is not always possible to access the net using this mode. However, on the happier side, you can save battery when you are running the internet using a Wi-Fi connection. Any reputed power bank china manufacturer would tell you that you drain more power out of your gadget when you use 3G phone in contrast to when you use Wi-Fi connection.
So those who are equally at ease with both the modes may like to switch for longer hours to the Wi-Fi mode to get more battery life. However, the difference is only marginal and if you tend to use your gadget a lot (as is the norm these days), you may still have to compulsorily buy a mobile phone battery pack for your iphone and an ipad battery extender for your tablet.
In ipads, one can get 10 hours of battery life when running the internet through Wi-Fi as opposed to the 9 hours when running the net through 3G sim. The difference is a lot more apparent in iPhones wherein Wi-Fi use offers you 10 hours of battery as opposed to the 6 hours with 3G.
The bottom line is that if you have a convenient access to both Wi-Fi and 3G net, it would be more feasible to opt for the former than for the latter.
