Users of polyimide tape seek to exploit the fact that it can withstand extreme heat and cold conditions without losing its effectiveness. The properties that allow it to be used on these parts include stability in extreme thermal and mechanical conditions. It withstands abrasion and does not get damaged when exposed to extreme and damaging radiations.

Warping on ABS surfaces affects the quality of 3D printing and a solution has been found in the tape. Heated build surfaces require such a material to prevent them from pulling apart. The fact that it does not react with most chemicals makes it appropriate for medical tubes.

Heat resistance displayed by polyimide tape gives it an advantage across industries. Manufacture and processing plants that run on coal use the material to filter hot gas because it resists damage under extreme heat and cold conditions. It also is stable when exposed to different chemical substances.
