Education is a big part of our lives. It is very important because it determines our future. Without education it would be hard to find good job and have high salary. Educational degrees are very important in most of today’s countries and that is why education has deserved attention.
Imagine this – a young man from Somalia, just graduated from a prestigious high end college somewhere in the West. He comes back to his country eager to help his fellow countrymen, but the situation he finds there is very discouraging. He begins to wonder: “What can I do to make things better?” He is aware that alone, he can barely make a difference. So the first option is to address his government about this issue. In case this doesn’t work (and take a guess if it will), he decides to use his hard earned knowledge and know-how in order to make as significant a contribution as possible.
But obviously, situation in education is not so clear when we are talking about African countries especially if you look at Somalia. People don’t pay enough attention to countries in Africa and there are no efforts made to improve the wealth ...
... of the people who live there. Somalia government is trying to improve conditions for their students and they are trying to increase amount of budget funds for the education every year. These efforts are recognized by the students and they are also trying to do their best to make Somalia a better place for all people. Currently, 15% of the national budget is being given for educational sector.
ECD or early childhood development is a way to prepare your child for school and commitments. This is a very important stage in every kid’s life. There are specific aging groups for children from up to 5 years old. Here your kid will learn some basic skills like numeracy and literacy and they will develop their social skills over the years.
Primary education is mandatory in almost every country in the world, and Somalia is no exception. Children will get familiar with 9 different subjects, like Mathematics (business education included), English, Geography, History, Environmental education etc. There are 8 grades, 36-42 lesson periods, and each one lasts 35-40 minutes. This is considered as an optimal time for a student to absorb and understand the lesson well. The level of understanding the lesson during class dramatically decreases the time spent studying at home.
Secondary education lasts 4 years and each class lasts 40-45 minutes. Children between the ages of 15 and 18 have the right to free education. Here teenagers will learn more about Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, English, Islam, Physics, History, Geography and many other sciences.
Tertiary education is optimal. You can choose between many Universities that have been recently opened in Somalia. Every region in Somalia has its own University and you can find more information about them on the internet.
Education plays a vital role in the life of every human no matter where they come from.
