The Bone Marrow Transplantation or BMT is one of the most complex surgical procedures which are enough to send Goosebumps into the nerves of an individual. It is performed to replace the damaged bone marrow and cure the stem cells. It helps in the creation of new blood cells from some immature cells existing in the bone marrow and these immature cells are known as stem cells. Now you may well ask as to when do a bone marrow transplant becomes important for a person. The specialist doctor or oncologists will usually advice for the replacement if the person is suffering from the deadly blood cancer. However, there are some other malicious diseases which directly attack and destroy the red and the white blood cells such as thalassemia, aplastic anaemia, leukaemia and others which can be treated through a successful bone marrow replacement. Some other hardcore diseases like Hodgkin's lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, and so on can also be cured by undergoing through this procedure. It is not that bone marrow transplant is restricted to adults but the surgery is also performed in the case of children especially ...
... if they are suffering from diseases such as sarcomas, neuroblastoma, and so forth too can be treated using Bone Marrow Transplant.

The Bone Marrow Transplantation in India is generally are classified into categories; Autologus Bone Marrow Transplant and Allergenic Bone Marrow Transplant. The first process includes the recovery of the stem cells from the body of the patient who is undergoing the treatment. After the stem cells become healthier the individual has to undertake a high dose of chemotherapy. After the completion of the chemotherapy sessions, the stem cells are once again inserted into the person’s body in an intravenous manner. However, in the second technique is a more complicated process. It is because here the stem cells are borrowed from a donor. Generally, it is very difficult to find a perfect donor and to persuade him for donating the stem cells. The donor must genetically match with the patient being treated. In most of the case, the person is close relative of the patient such as his siblings. The genetic match is confirmed after a number of several blood tests.

Since it is a very complicated surgical procedure, people are often worried about its outcome and further complications. In the opinion of the oncologist, the complexities depends on a number of vital factors which include the disease of the patient and its stage, his age, present condition of health, and the treatment he has undergone through before the bone marrow transplant such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Furthermore, whether the patient has got a donor and it also needs to be observed up to what extent the genetic match is matching and if the patient is going for auto or allogenic bone marrow transplant. There are some very serious side effects or complication which a patient might have to suffer. These include anaemia, or bleeding, soreness of the mouth and it can also damage the vital organs such as kidneys, lungs or liver to certain extent.
