If you spend too much time choosing which clothes to wear before leaving home, then you can consider yourself a fashion-conscious person. You're picky on things like design, pattern, color coordination, and even down to the accessories and bags to go with your outfit for the day. You also spend a considerable amount on your shopping just to make sure you get the trendies clothes and the coolest getups, even spending hard-earned money for designer clothes.

Of course, no one's stopping you from splurging on clothing. It is your money after all. However, you actually don't have to break the bank to look all trendy and stylish. Here are some helpful tips on how to look fashionable without spending money like water:

Learn about fabrics - Or better yet, become a fabrics expert. Something that's not from the earth (such as silk or cotton) or from an animal (like wool or fur) looks inferior and cheap. However, if you're big on earth-friendly advocacies, you may be reluctant on these types of fabric. But you can still get fine materials despite not choosing them. Check if the soft and smooth and if it has a nice luster. ...
... Synthetic fabrics can look as good as their natural counterparts.

Choose colors carefully - Unless you're a bit 'loud' with your clothes and consider over-the-top outfits normal, you shouldn't put on too many colors, especially those that don't complement one another. Fashion experts recommend that you wear one neutral color from head to toe to be on the safe side. Going monochromatic, which some may consider boring, can actually make you look more sophisticated, especially if you choose black, gray, or ivory.

Don't mix patterns - Being in tasteful in the clothes you wear can easily show when you know how to put on an ensemble that doesn't make you look like a walking yard sale. Imagine wearing a plaid blouse paired with pants with polka dots. That certainly bodes fashion disaster. To be safe, make sure only one piece of your getup has a pattern while the rest are plain. Try to stick to classic prints.

Accessorize appropriately - Just because you see models strutting their high fashion on the catwalk with dangling earrings doesn't mean you'll do it all the time. There are accessories and pieces of jewelry that match certain outfits and are totally out of place when matched with other types of clothing. Especially when attending a business meeting or a job interview, make sure that the accessories won't cause distraction.

Hair and makeup matter, too - Certainly, you can't just wear a single hairdo to match all your outfits. You should also make the effort to have a hairstyle that would complement what you wear so it all comes together perfectly. For example, if you have long hair, you have to know how to wear it when you put on formal attire like a gown. And, needless to say, your choice of makeup colors also has to be spot-on.
