Things To Know Before Buying Portable Shed Kits Online
Life coaches and experts in general always say that the key to a peaceful life is to keep everything around you clutter-free. Not only does clutter take up every available inch of space in your home, it is also said to bring you down and cause you to become depressed about your life instead of feeling grateful for what you have and what you have achieved.
Which is why when you go online and search for de-cluttering tips, you will find that there is no shortage of advice on how you can de-clutter your personal space or home to uplift your spirits and promote a positive vibe. Among the many tips, advice and suggestions you will read are about building sheds in the backyard, whether you build them yourself from scratch or by assembling portable shed kits.
Sheds in the past, have been limited to storing garden equipment or extra hardware supplies. They have also been limited to being this small, cramped spaces consisting of four wooden walls, a roof, two windows and a door. These days, however, sheds are more than just a place for storage-they can also be used as meditation rooms, art studios, play rooms for your kids, ...
... home offices and even as rooms you can rent out for extra income.
With all these new uses for sheds, it is no surprise that more and more people are opting to get them rather than renovate their homes to accommodate the extra space. However, just because you bought your shed kits doesn't mean you can just go ahead and assemble them. As sheds rose in popularity, they also got covered under local housing and zoning laws so before you go telling people about the new shed you put up, you need to first check if you will require a permit to build it.
It's only a shed, you say so why would you need a permit? First of all, the town inspector will need to see if the shed is built to code so that it won't sink into the ground, collapse or get blown over by strong winds. Next, town officials will also need to make sure that your shed isn't encroaching on wetlands, standing over septic systems or straddling property lines and lastly, if you don't have a permit, your neighbors who may not like your shed can tear it down or have you tear it down and there's nothing you'll be able to do about it.
The next thing you need to consider is the foundation on which you will be building your shed. On-grade foundations are the easiest to build on since you won't need to dig postholes or pour concrete. Instead you can assemble your shed kits right on top of the ground and this foundation is especially suitable for small to medium sheds up to 200 square feet.
If you're putting up a bigger shed, you also need to make sure your foundation is frost-proof, which means that it extends down to the frost line. This is recommended as well if you live in areas where snow is a constant fixture to protect your shed from the movements caused by seasonal thaws/freeze cycles.
Also, never put up your sheds at the bottom of hills or in low places that tend to collect water during the rainy season. The constant moisture will cause wooden sheds to rot, paint to blister and mold and mildew to grow on the equipment and items you store inside.
As far as where you should build your shed, never put it in the farthest corners of your backyard because people are more liable to return things stored in it if they didn't have to walk a distance. If possible, keep away from extremely shady areas as well because the exposure to sunlight will keep your wooden sheds from rotting or mold and mildew from developing.
As far as where to buy your shed kits, there are many reputable stores online that even allow you to customize your search parameters so you can find exactly what you need. You can visit Simplysheds page and find out how to buy the best sheds that are worth your time and money, which is the most important thing.
