Autonagar Surya is a Telugu film directed by Deva Katta. The film, which is said to be a political thriller film, stars Naga Chaitanya and Samantha in the lead while starring Rakul Preet Singh, Sai Kumar in pivotial roles. Anoop Rubens composed the music for the film while Srikanth Naroj, known for his work in the 2011 film Hostel handled the Cinematography. Gautham Raju handled the editing Department. The Principal photography started officially on October 14, 2011 at Hyderabad. Autonagar Surya movie wrapping the entire shooting by November 30, 2013. After Dhada became a Box Office failure, news of shelving the film temporarily were reported. In December 2010, reports emerged that Nandamuri Balakrishna was roped in to play the role of Surya. However, Deva Katta dismissed those reports. Finally after much speculation, Naga Chaitanya was signed to play the role of Surya which was said to be a skilled mechanic based in Vijayawada but the director claimed it to have no connection with Vijayawada. Initially, Nithya Menen and Kajal Agarwal were considered for the role of Heroine but later Samantha, who earlier acted with Chaitanya in her debut movie Ye Maaya Chesave was roped in. It was said that his role was named "Super Mechanic" Brahmi who is a rival to Surya's business and Venu Madhav would be his assistant. Apart from this, Madhu of "Chakravakam" fame was roped in to play the role of City Mayor and Jaya Prakash Reddy was roped in to play the role of corporator of the city.
