Javea – The Mountains, The Sea And The Fiesta
Javea, or Xàbia, has varied scenery which has been sculpted by the influences of wind and sea throughout the centuries. The discovery of Javea beautiful landscapes and coastline is one of the many attractive features which awaits us in this privileged enclave on the Costa Blanca. In its large Municipal territory, we can explore a series of coves, beaches, cliffs, islands, caves and capes as well as mountains and valleys. It has various protected spaces such as a Natural Park, a Marine Reserve and 6 Plant Microreserves. Different Hiking routes and Scenic viewpoints have been conditioned to join them.
Its exceptional natural environment combines sea and mountains and represents an excellent alternative for hiking fans who can explore its luxurious vegetation, stroll along its cliffs and enjoy its spectacular views. On the other end of it, Javea has a wide variety of nightlife options. The beach area called Playa del Arenal has the largest number of bars, where you are sure to find the place best suited to your tastes, all kinds of pubs, discotheques, chill-out, live music and many other night spots along the entire promenade of Paseo del Arenal.
However, you can also find interesting nightlife venues in the city centre, in the Aduanas del Mar district in front of the Sea Promenade, where you can have a great time in Winter and Summer nights.
During the summer, various refreshment stands called "Chiringuitos" are set up on the beach called Playa del Primer Muntanyar, where you can enjoy fantastic sunsets, sip a cocktail during the hot summer nights or attend the numerous . Regarding its climate, Jávea has a mild one during the entire year. Thanks to the montgó mountain barrier, the town is protected from the continental winter cold fronts and benefits from the sea winds and westerly breezes which provide relief from the summer heat. The average annual temperature ranges from 18 to 22 degrees.

Jávea’s cuisine is intimately linked to its splendid geographical location. The majority of the fruits and vegetables are grown in the fertile valley of Sant Bertomeu and in its orchards whose soil is frequently enriched by silt when the Gorgos River overflows. Jávea also benefits from its privileged relationship with the sea as evidenced by the local cuisine with its rich varieties of fresh fish, seafood and shellfish, commercialized under the quality trademark: “Pescado y marisco de la bahía de Xàbia” (Fish and Seafood from the Xàbia Bay). In addition to fish and seafood, another unique and valuable product is the "erizos de mar" (sea urchins) which are usually served with bread or in dry rice dishes.
Among the rice dishes, you may choose among “Arroz a banda" or "Arroz a la Marinera" (seafood paellas), "Arroz al horno" (oven-baked rice), "Paella con boquerón y espinacas" (Paella with anchovies and spinach), “fesols i naps” (Rice stew with beans and turnips), "Arroz negro" (Seafood paella in squid ink) and the "Arroces melosos con bogavante y langosta" (Stewed rice with lobster).
For dessert, we recommend those prepared with typical products from this region such as almonds, oranges, raisins and figs. Typical examples of desserts include: Tortà de Almendra (Almond flat bread), the Pastissets (Stuffed fried cakes with filling), "Coca María" (Sponge cake), the "Sopà" (Crème caramel), the "Casca" (Ring-shaped cake) and the"Pelota dulce" (Sweet bread-balls).
