With a two hour running time, tu mera 22 main tera 22 movie the story begins in the city of Melboune, Australia where a business tycoon is worried about his totally reckless and careless sons, Robby (Amrinder Gill) and Rolly (Honey Singh). He throws them a challenge to earn Rs 30 lakhs in 30 days to be able to inherit his wealth. With hope in his heart and the confidence that his mother land would put some sense into his spoilt sons, he packs them out to Punjab. The struggle of the brothers to avoid this task of discovering their roots and heritage creates some very funny moments. The story is a funny take on the coming of age of the two brothers and their bromance and how they deal with the harsh realities of life in Jalandhar compared to their pub-hoping, flirting and high flying life of Australia.

The ever pleading and begging boys finally land in Jalandhar to discover that their ancestral home is now a PG for girls run by the caretaker Ustadji. His comic timing while bragging to be the owner of the house is worth every minute that he is on screen and almost overshadows the lead actors in every frame that they are together. As was expected from such a movie, romance has little space for budding into something important and unlike many of the recent romance heavy comedy movies, Amit Prashar decided to tilt the balance in favour of comedy and very pleasing decision at that. The two leading ladies Mandy Takhar and Wamiqa Gabbi breeze their way through the movie upping the glamour quotient with every second of their screen time. Even in a limited role, Wamiqa shines in her desi kudi avatar and impresses us with her near perfect expressions.

A runaway hit in Punjab and packed with packets of humor from the moment the leading men make their entry on screen, the director has been able to aptly bring out a thoughtful and sensible movie with characters strong enough to bring in constant bouts of laughter and it just keeps on coming.

From the producers who brought you ‘Jatt and Juliet’, Tu mera 22 main tera 22 also had a lot of expectations from it and it doesn’t disappoint. If you are one of those who always look for serious and soul crunching movies, this one is definitely not for you. However if an afternoon or evening of pure fun is all you want then it is not a movie to be missed.
