Rn To Bsn Requirements For Graduate Programs
Nursing BSN, nursing degree completion, RN to BSN
Once a nurse graduate has completed the required licensing examination, they are then able to begin practicing as a registered nurse. Often referred to as a RN for short, a registered nurse is often employed in a hospital setting working alongside doctors and other medical specialists offering treatment and care to a variety of patients.
Nurses are at present in high demand across all fields including pediatrics, adults and even women’s health. The average nurse-training course can last up to 4 years before a graduate is eligible to sit the licensing exam. However, for some students who have already completed an associate’s degree, the licensing exam can be taken after completing 2 years of a nurse-training course.
For graduates who wish to further their career opportunities once they have completed a diploma or associated degree in nursing and are a licensed RN, they can choose to complete a 2nd nursing degree. The most popular of these is the Bachelor of Science in nursing degree, better known as BSN. Other students may opt for a nursing BSM course. ...
... This is another bachelor’s degree, but is in the field of midwifery nursing as opposed to general nursing. A vast majority of midwives today are also registered nurses or nurse practitioners.
Both BSN and BSM courses teach graduates science and principles within nursing along with general mathematics, humanities and social sciences included in course work. The average nursing BSM and BSN course can take a little over 12 months to complete. Courses are available both online and campus. Students can often study their bachelor’s degree whilst continuing their work as a professional RN.
A nursing degree completion program allows for RN to BSN training. Students can obtain a bachelor’s nursing degree and schedules for these courses can be adjusted to coincide with a work placement should students wish to complete the course whilst continuing to work. This is due to academic studies being integrated alongside current practice. A majority of nursing BSN and BSM courses require graduates to complete between 15 and 25 hours of study every week.
Places for these courses are limited each semester. Students are requested to complete a bachelor’s course when spaces are available. As with a number of degree courses, financial aid is available for graduates who are eligible. Advice can be sought with regards to tuition costs via the financial aid officer based in a majority of nursing colleges.
