Kia Luxury Coming To America

Already available in Kia's home country of South Korea, the K9 is on its way to the United States. In the states, however, the name slightly changes to the Kia K900. This marks Kia's first attempt at a true luxury sedan in the US; these cars are already being compared to both the 5-class and E-class cars of their competitors. There will be some slight modifications to the vehicle as it makes its way from its home country and heads across the Pacific. The majority of the changes will be made for regulatory purposes; some however, are purely the appeal more to the American market.

In South Korea this car comes with a 3.3L V6 engine, once in the United States this will change to appeal to the American masses. Instead two different engines will be available in the new market, a 3.6L V6 and V8 will be calling this luxury sedan home. Regardless of what is under the hood the K9000 does not look anything like your grandmothers' Kia.

The exterior boasts gorgeous flowing lines and multiple LED lights in both the front and the rear. From the outside the new K900 screams luxury; the interior does not take away from the scream ...
... in the least. With the crazy amount of space inside this car feels more like a living room than a mode of transportation. One slight downfall of the interior is the plastics are not quite up to the standards of Kia's German luxury car competitors. Still, it is far beyond anything anyone thought Kia was capable of and offers all the bells and whistles the competitors do right down to a heads up display.

This rear wheel drive luxury sedan may be Kia's first attempt at luxury, but driving this huge car shows how great a first attempt can be. Though significantly larger than the majority of vehicles in its class, the K900 floats over the road. With intelligent suspension automatically rising and lowering ride height, you feel like you are floating more than driving. The cabin does a great job of cutting down on road noise and allows you to truly enjoy the ride. The primary pitfall to the K900 is the name.

Originally released in South Korea as the K9 Kia, heads knew they had to change the name in an American market. This change is largely due to American stereotyping of Korean food. To remove themselves from the stereotype, corporate decided to add a couple zeroes to the name. In general luxury cars use an alphanumeric naming system, however, the K9 seems to have deserved more.

Pricing for this flagship car is estimated to be between $50,000 and $70,000 in the U.S. market. Obviously the end price is determined by which options package you decide upon. Kia decided to make the leap into the American luxury car market largely because the American economy appears to finally be growing again. They want to try to cash in on a previously untouched demographic in the United States.

Still the question remains as to whether or not you should buy the vehicle. Though it is a first attempt, and the next model is sure to blow the K900 away; this is a truly unique car. The K900 is head and shoulders above anything Kia has ever produced before. If you were already a Kia fan the answer is simple; you have to own it.
