Ayurveda is an alternaive branch of medicinal practice that makes use of herbs along with other assorted ingredients from nature to cure maladies. Its birthplace is in ancient India but it has recently garnered popularity in other parts of the world. It is a seamless self-healing process. Ayurveda aims at bringing about an all-round treatment of the body, soul and mind. It seeks to strike a balance and harmony in the body, taking inspiration from the harmonious functioning of the Universe.

Panic attack is an area where ayurvedic treatment has reaped significant results. A person suffering panic attack undergoes a tough time coming to terms with normality, due to social embarrassment and fear. Panic attacks are fast becoming common with the urban population with increasing stress levels in professional and personal life. Ayurvedic treatment is the best way of dealing with panic attacks, as it is without any side-effects. Identification of panic attack symptoms is therefore necessary for proper treatment.

Every individual suffers from unique and different symptoms. But there are some common set of panic attack symptoms ...
... like dizziness, fainting smell, pessimism, intense nihilism, profuse sweating, stabs of chilling sensations, nausea, difficulty in breathing, chest pain etc.
Herbs like Brahmi, Ashwagandha and Chawanprash are really effective in assuaging panic attack.

Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha, alternatively called Indian Ginseng, consists of a significant dose of anti-oxidant that tranquilizes the mind and initiates a healing process. One of the common causes of such attacks is taking continual stress. Disciplined, regular consumption of the herb significantly helps alleviate stress, enhances cerebral repair and improves the memory.

Brahmi

Brahmi (Bacopa monneiri) is one of the chiefly recommended medicinal herbs for panic attacks. Rejuvenating the mind, the body, improving memory as also repairing brain cells are its chief functions.

Chawanprash

Chawanprash is a blend of several herbs and spices such as cardamom, beechwood( Gmelina arborea), Gooseberry. (phyllanthus emlica), wood apple (aelele marmelosa) and most importantly, ashwagandha. It helps to bring about general improvement of one’s health.

Alternative Ayurvedic treatments

Taking tea is yet another highly recommended ayurvedic or organic treatment for panic attack. Nutgrass and Valeriene are the most potent teas for issues of panic attacks. But, it should be taken care that the tea altogether is without caffeine, as caffeine decisively acts like a stimulant which hinders the proper functioning of the medicinal tea.

Deep breathing is a useful ayurvedic method of treatment for panic attack. It helps the mind to refocus and concentrate. When one breathes in a proper manner, there is an inflow of oxygen in the brain cells. It tranquilizes and relaxes the mental faculties. Deep breathing channelizes the person’s thoughts from the experience of panic attack to the breathing process.

Massage is another option for dealing with panic attacks. Twice a day massage of the entire body with sesame oil, one prior to taking bath in the morning and another, before slumber, is an effective way of assuaging panic attack. The effect is further improved if some baking soda and ginger powder are dissolved in the water that is to be used for taking bath.
