Picking The Right Usb Stick In Canada

In computer terminology, USB stands for Universal Serial Bus, a type of storage device that can be carried around conveniently because of its small size and handy design. Also called a thumb drive, pen drive or key drive, this tool is used by practically everybody today. If you’re just about to jump into the bandwagon, find a store that specializes in technology- related items, from laptops to CD duplicators and more, as this is where you’ll have a nice variety to choose from. And as you choose, focus on three key considerations - size and speed, price and durability.
Size and Speed
First off, determine how much data will likely end up in your USB. Whether you’re choosing from USB sticks in Canada or anywhere else in the world, standard options you have are 4-8 GB, 16 GB and 32 GB. The first one is good for storing documents and simple JPEG photos. USBs with 16GB capacity are good for photos of bigger sizes and higher quality. Basically, if you’re working with documents that have graphics in them like charts or tables or would like to add some songs in MP3, this is also good enough. If you’ll be working ...
... with video or audio files, which can be very, very large, then you’ll need 32 GB. As for speed, the slowest is USB 1.1 and the fastest is eSATA which can run up to 6 gigabits per second.
Durability or Longevity
If you will be using your flash drive in one place, as when you’re transferring files to and from multiple computers at home, or multiple computers in the office, durability is probably not a key issue. However, it is if you’ll be carrying that disk in your pocket from time to time. Make it a point to check reviews online. There are many websites that specialize in reviews from customers who purchased their USB sticks in Canada, the US, Japan or any other part of the world where the technology industry is booming. Flash drives that have moving parts are more likely to break, while some USB sticks are simply made poorly that they split at the sides, causing the electronic parts of the device to be exposed.
The Price
Prices will differ based on the manufacturer, model and storage capacity. And as with any purchase you make, cheap isn’t always best. Note that low-priced USBs are sometimes products of some compromise in quality, so don’t just focus on the cost. Consider other essential issues such as compatibility and even the physical design. For example, if you get something with a detachable cap, you could end up losing that cap and exposing the plug-in area of the flash drive to dust. Again, it’s better to find a store that offers a whole range of technology products like those CD duplicators and laptops and of course, USB sticks.
