Increasing Employee Participation In An Erp
A good employee referral program is essential to acquire and retain the right talent. This task is far from being as easy as it sounds. You as a recruiter understand the value of employee referrals but do your employees understand the intensity of this activity?
There are several reasons as to why an employee won’t be proactive in sourcing the right referral. Reasons could vary from not finding this activity worth it to feeling left out in the subsequent processes once the referral has been made. Thus, it is essential to motivate the employees and bring them on the same page such that they realize the true importance of employee referrals in recruiting
A few tips on encouraging employee participation:
Create a spark of excitement:
Incorporating a fun element in your referral recruiting strategy, like a game or contest will definitely catch the attention of the young employees. Emphasis should be laid on the fact that, not only would their referrals benefit the organization overall, but would be beneficial for them as individuals as well. It would be interesting to have one’s own contact working ...
... alongside with them, in the same organization. After all, the referral program is a collaborative effort of the human resource department along with the employees and it is this ideology that generates unity, team work and excitement to go on with the task.
Recognition:
Participation in the employee referral program means that the employees are performing an activity not prescribed in their regular job description. Thus, this very attempt would need to be recognized, even if the employee referral does not result in a hire. Thus, ensuring that the employees are convinced that even their attempts, irrespective of the end result would be recognized would go a long way in encouraging referrals.
Employment assistance tool:
Having an employee referral tool in place would ease the referral process. The employees would know all the necessary details hence eliminating any scope of ambiguity. Clarity on the subject would motivate the employees to move ahead with the referral activity.
Transparency:
Ensuring that there is enough transparency facilitates a healthy employee referral engagement activity. It would motivate and in a way act as a recognition if the employee is kept in the loop at every stage of his or her referrals progress in the hiring process.
This way the employee’s role in the recruitment process increases which in turn instills a sense of responsibility towards the manpower sourcing in the organization.
