We all have come across the term web browser, but what does it exactly implies? It refers to software application through which users can display their website, carry out interaction through images and text and other relevant information on a web page of a website and display it in the world wide web by any local area network.

If we study carefully, we would find that web pages are created by writing of codes in HTML, PHP or any other form of programming language. The structure of a web page that is seen in web browsers is not as same as seen when web browsers get the coding information and converts it into the display format that you see on a website.

As different browsers have different type display options, similar web page might appear slight different in varied browsers. We all know that a web page is found on the internet via a fixed URL thats equal to the net address and it begins with 'http:' for HTTP. Different web browsers supports wide range of protocols like rtsp: for RTSP, https: for HTTPS and ftp: for FTP.

Apart from supporting computer languages like HTML, PHP, etc web browsers do supports many image formats like PNG, JPEG and GIF. The decision of website designers for image selection, video, animation, streaming media, sound, etc use in a web page is taken by proper combination of HTTP content type and URL protocol.
