Containers are usually found in regular shapes such as oval, circular, rectangle and square. To keep things from being boring, containers made of plastic can be given a unique shape and design. This can be done by thermoforming of plastic which refers to the use of pressure forming. There are top notch companies that deal with thermoforming of plastic in Canada. These companies are capable of doing this job on a small scale as well as in bulk. As the costs are comparatively lower, plastic is competing with products made of wood, fiber glass and metal.

Overall benefits of thermoforming

When a short lead time is required thermoforming is an obvious choice. The other benefits associated with this process are minimized start up costs and design or mold is flexible. This method is also the preferred choice when you are unsure of the sales volume or the viability of the product. Thermoforming of plastic in Canada has become extremely popular because of its being so versatile. Trays, clamshell packaging, blister pack packaging, and many other products can be made using this method.

Process of vacuum forming ...

This process starts with the loading of a thermoplastic sheet into the frame of the machine. Prescribed amount of heat is applied to the sheet, when the sheet becomes pliable a mould is brought into the sheet to which the vacuum is applied. When this pressure is applied the material is forced to take the shape of the mould. Once the plastic sheet has cooled down, air is let into the compartment so as to loosen the container from the mould. The container can be taken out a bit later and trimmed. For instance to make a blister pack packaging, trimming can be done manually with a router or automatically by machines.

Advantages of blister packaging

As blister packaging is considered the best and the most preferred choice of pharmaceutical companies as the products is safe and secure. The most basic configuration of blister pack packaging is where the cavity is made up of clear, thermoformed plastic, and the lid is made of clear plastic or a combination of plastic, paper and foil. This concept of packaging by the pharmaceutical companies was introduced so that it would be simple for patients to know if they have taken their daily dose or not. Also as time went by it was proved that this type of packaging was easily handled and could be stored more conveniently.
