Motivation plays a key role in achieving your fitness goals. Reaching your goals becomes incredibly difficult, if not downright impossible, if you work out only whenever you want. Know that you can't get fit overnight. You become fit if you are consistent with your exercise program. And in order to regularly exercise, you'll need to be motivated enough. So today, we're going to give you a few tips on how to keep your motivation up.

Make sure your fitness goals are specific, as doing so can help you be more motivated to work out. Your general goal may be to be a lot healthier or to lose weight. You need to make that goal more specific. If you want to lose weight, for example, consider exactly how many pounds you want to lose or you might set a target weight that would be ideal for you. If you're lifting weights, set a goal for how much weight you want to lift as well as how many reps and sets you aim to do. You can focus on your goals if you have them written down. Some people find that if they are in a social setting such as a gym, they're more motivated to exercise. Others find it stressful to have others watch them exercise. It is not unusual if you find that you are more comfortable exercising outside. If this is true for you, then enjoy some outdoor activities, such as biking, walking, or running. Finding the right setting will make it much easier for you to succeed with your fitness program.

Be inspired by the power of fitness program visualization. Think about what you want to see in the mirror when you attain your goals. What's your ideal weight? Try seeing yourself at this weight. You can also try imagining how your body looks like when you're fit. Aside from mental pictures, you should also remind yourself of the health benefits of regular exercise. One suggestion is to print out a few copies of this reminder and have them posted in places where you're likely to see them easily. Here's another suggestion: every couple of weeks take a picture of yourself and then tape it on your bathroom mirror or fridge. Let that be your motivation to keep exercising because every couple of weeks, you can actually see yourself looking more and more fit.
