Card
Card games are a type of game that makes use of playing cards as their primary tool. They can be game specific or traditional. There are countless card games that exist, which would include families of related games like poker. There are also games that feature formally standardized rules that can vary by culture, person or even region.
Card Games Types
There are different types of card games. This would include the following:
· Matching games †For Rummy and several other matching or melding games is to quickly get the required group of matching cards. With Rummy, you need to draw and discard. There is also the “fishing type” which includes the Old Maid and Go Fish.
· Trick-taking games †the object of this game is to play multiple of tricks or rounds with the player holding a single card in their hand. Depending on the values of the played cards, only one player will win or take the trick.

· Fishing games †This is a combination of matching-shedding games wherein the players would “fish” for the needed card by taking it from the other’s hand. This is either by drawing from a batch of untaken cards or by asking the other player for this card.
· Accumulating games †The goal for this game is to get all the cards in the deck.
· Comparing games †In this game, the hand values are to be compared in order to determine who the winner is. Other terms for this game are “showdown” or “vying” games. This is where Blackjack, Poker, Cassino and Baccarat falls under.
· Drinking card games †This is a subset of drinking games that makes use of cards. The objective, as per the name, is to drink or to force the others to drink.
· Solitaire games †Another term for this game is Patience game. It starts with a specific layout of cards. The objective is to construct an elaborate final layout or to have the tableau cleared.
· Multi-genre games †There are games that borrow elements from several types of games. The noted most common combination is the shedding and matching like in Old Maid, Go Fish and Rummy. With this type, there are various stages of play for every hand. The most common combination is the “trick and meld” game. Good examples are Belote and Pinochle. Other examples are Tichu, Skitgubbe and Poke.
· Gambling or Casino card games †This type revolves around money wagers. Like any game, there are those who will win and those who will lose at the stake of the money they wagered. This is designed to make the betting process the strategic part of the actual game. Examples are Blackjack and Poker.
· CCG or Collectible card games †This game is defined according to the usage of decks that would differ between he players. Contents of the decks are actually a subset of a large pool of cards that differ in art, cost and effect. The objective is to accumulate the deck by purchasing or trading your cards.
· Poker games †This is a type of gambling game wherein players would bet into a pot. The value they have at hand should be able to beat the others according to a ranking system. There are only variations on how you can improve your hand, with the method and how the cards are dealt.
· Fictional card games †There are card games that are already fabricated by Science-fiction screenwriters and authors. These are card games that can take you to different cultures and atmospheres. The drama of the game remains on how the game should be played. Good examples are Battlestar Galactica and Pyramid.
· Other card games †Aside from the above mentioned games, there are other games that are published and designed on an amateur or commercial basis. There are those that make use of the standard 52-card decks which only differs on the game objective. There are also those that make use of specially-made cards. A good example is Eleusis.
