Quirky And Interesting Themes For The Prom

Whether you are a teacher or a PTA member assigned with the responsibility to plan the best prom the school has ever seen, choosing to create a theme for the event is the perfect way to spice things up. Go the unconventional way and make sure that the students are able to have a night to remember!

Here are some fascinating themes worth considering while planning a prom –

1.The Casino Theme

This theme is ideal for students who are looking for alternative activities other than dancing the night away. You can set up poker, blackjack and other game tables; cover the room in flashlights and create that signature glow the Vegas is so famous for. Ask parents to volunteer as dealers, and get a casino themed cake for final touches.

2.The Yule Ball

Bringing alive the magic of Harry Potter is a great way to show the students a good time. This theme is ideal for schools that host a winter prom. You can recreate the Yule Ball with fake snow, ice sculptures and twinkling lights that adorn the ceilings. Have the chaperons dress up as wizards, and you are set.

Give your prom a classy touch by organizing a masquerade themed ball. Give away white masquerade masks to each student and take them back to 18th century France by using castle decorations, chandeliers and other ornate elements. You can also host a mask making contest or hand our prizes to students who wear the best Venetian masks.

4.Mardi Gras Themed Prom

Convert your venue into a French Quarter by bringing in loads of Mardi Gras party supplies and decoration pieces. Believe it or not, this is probably one of the most cost-effective themes to consider. Use lots of balloons, confetti and Venetian masks to give the venue a festive sourther spirit. You can also set up a photo booth to take pictures with masks, beads and other Mardi Gras themed accessories.

5.Candyland Theme

For this theme, you cannot have enough candy. Use bright colored candy wrappers to create color combinations that transform your venue into a vibrant area. You can also construct a life-size candy from paper or cardboard to place them at strategic locations around the room. Giant lollipops make for excellent favors at the end of the prom.

6.Avatar

If it is a fad that you intend to follow, give your prom a futuristic jungle twist by opting to recreate Pandora within your venue. Bring in fog machines to create an otherworldly mist, hang vines from the ceilings to create a jungle like ambiance and have the chaperons dress up like Navis.

7.Alice in Wonderland

Prom-goers are always impressed with the crazy settings and the quirky characters that come with an Alice in Wonderland theme. You can recreate the Mad Hatter’s tea party, make good use of twinkling lights, use top hats as centerpieces and put up quirky signs all over the venue. You can also set up a garden wall with artificial flowers and make creative use of playing cards for decorations.
