I doubt anyone would deny their want for world peace. A recent NBC News article states that, as a whole, our world is an overall peaceful one. Of course, we have wars. Of course, we have famine and poverty. Harvard psychologist Steven Pinker makes the statement that “the decline of violence may be the most significant and least appreciated development in the history of our species.” Let that sink in. Not only are we declining in our violence as a species—which, by the way, means there is an increase in world peace—we are unaware. People as a whole are unaware that despite terrorist attacks (that are included in Pinker’s studies), the world is still dramatically less violent than we were centuries, even decades ago.
Eleanor Roosevelt once said “It isn't enough to talk about peace. One must believe in it. And it isn't enough to believe in it. One must work at it.” With the information Pinker gives us—letting us know that humanity is more peaceful than ever before—and Roosevelt’s encouragement to continue this peace and the hard work that is necessary to achieve it. Live It Everyday, LLC is not about ...
... talking about things. We aren’t about thinking about them, or even dreaming about them. Live It Everyday is about attacking those dreams, and making them reality. Live It Everyday is about working at and for what you believe in. We are about expressing our beliefs. Our peace t shirts allow you to do just that: express the work you are doing to create peace. Believing in peace is admirable, but working at it is insurmountable. We have the power to change this world and watch Pinker’s numbers decrease even more. Could you imagine if we all worked at peace?
A part of this commitment to peace comes from the need to give. Giving back to our world is critical and something that Live It Everyday does not take lightly. So, we give 11 percent of the money we earn from each sale of a peace t shirt goes to Show Hope, an organization that enables individuals and communities to change the world for orphans by not only addressing a child’s need for food, shelter, care, and spiritual nourishment, but also by addressing the root issue for an orphan: the lack of a family.
So, will you just sit and simply sit back and talk about peace? Will you believe in it? And more than that, will you work at it and will you show the world what you’re working on by wearing a peace t shirt?
