With over 15 years of lifestyle experience here in Mallorca, I have never experienced and enjoyed the island as much as I do today. Living in such a dramatically beautiful island always provided a stunning back drop and temperate climate, but since becoming a mother of two small children, I feel that I have developed a new appreciation for this special place that we call home. With the welcome change of seasons comes a refreshing change of climate and a whole new variety of appealing activities and enjoyment on this striking island.

One of the most attractive features about Mallorca is the diversity of culture, facilities and scenery. With the island enjoying the luxury of being highly accessible (Mallorca is currently an air hub for Air Berlin and also receives direct flights from Moscow) as well as being only 2 – 3 hrs travel time from most major cities in Europe – for example - London and Berlin. Within Mallorca, no place is too far – it is only 1 hr travel time by car from South to North and 1 ½ hrs from East to West. ... of Palma de Mallorca, the serenity and cultural history of the Spanish style villages nestling in the mountains, the exclusive yacht marinas such as Puerto Portals, Puerto Andratx and Puerto Adriano with high end designer stores and services, to the idyllic sandy beaches and tourist areas which provide a multitude of services and eateries for all nationalities and budgets. To discover such an array of amenities all situated within such close proximity to each other is indeed an extravagance that is seldom offered by any other place in Europe.

Mallorca offers such a superb climate for outdoor living, with the soaring temperatures of 30 plus degrees in the summer months, the island provides the ideal situation for water sports, swimming and sunbathing. My children adore the beaches here in Mallorca. So many to choose from, with Calvia offering clean sandy bays and rocky coves with turquoise clean waters and pleasantly calm waters of the Mediterranean.
Our favorite local beaches include Palma Nova, Paguera and Puerto Adriano, whilst others such as Alcudia Bay and Es Trenc de Sa Rapita, are well worth the extra travel time (both within 1hr drive of Calvia). Alcudia alone boasts a sweeping bay of powdery white sand over 14km long, with incredibly shallow waters that are perfect small children like mine. Enabling them to paddle safely out and play for hours at the water´s edge. In the winter months, this northerly part of Mallorca boasts higher winds, making it ideal for windsurfing and kite surfing – walking this beach in the winter months is an entertainment in itself, watching the sails out at sea as they sweep and bob about , with world class kite surfers performing stunts and tricks right before your eyes.

The coastline of Mallorca also offers fantastic boating potential – with so many inlets and coves as well as various towns on the coast, chartering a yacht for a few days and sailing round our beautiful island is a fantastic way to gain a new perspective. The journey is breathtakingly scenic, the mountains of Mallorca, providing a spectacular view, with lush green pines and palm trees in plenty as well as stunning landmarks along the way, everything from lighthouses and castles to fishing villages, to caves and even golf courses such as Aucanada – owned by Porsche and the only golf course in Mallorca which is frontline to the Mediterranean and hangs out over the sea.
