Kitchener is located just a one hour’s drive away from Toronto and is known for its slow and leisurely lifestyle that is reminiscent of the 19th century. Residents prefer spending their time developing their farms than wasting their valuable hours and minutes on gizmos and technology that has become an indispensable part of one’s life. Apart from its simple, laid-back lifestyle, Kitchener is also famous for the numerous golf courses seen here. Kitchener golf courses are world-famous and have been created by some of the renowned golf course architects.

Golf enthusiasts love to spend their time on some of the most memorable golf courses here, created by famous names like Thomas McBroom and Stanley Thompson. This area of Southern Ontario is undoubtedly known by its superbly designed and well-maintained golf courses.

Excellent Settings for a Wonderful Round of Golf

One of the oldest golf courses in this region is the Rockway Golf Course built way back in the 1930s. This municipal course is situated bang in the center of Kitchener. Its tree-lined settings provided the encouragement visitors need to try a ...
... round or two. At just 5,500 yards, the course is not a long one by today’s standards, but it still is a good testing ground for amateur as well as professional golfers.

Another famous Kitchener golf course is the Doon Valley Golf Club. Known among professional golfers as a challenging course, it takes in the natural wetlands of the Grand River to create a design that is not easy to have control on. Gamers must employ the best strategy and have enhanced shot-making ability to win over the course. Wide 6,600 yards of amazing green carpet looks serene and inviting until you try to get the ball going. There is also a nine-hole course at Doon Valley known for its stunning scenery.

The Whistle Bear Golf Club is another major Kitchener-Waterloo golf course. It was completed in 2000 and has remained a favorite of the top golfers in the region. This course was designed by the famous architect from Ontario, John Robinson. The course has 103 bunkers, thick pasture grass, and a challenging rolling terrain. The 10-hole course featured some truly challenging water hazards.

Play on One of the Oldest Courses in the Region

Visitors to the Kitchener-Waterloo area make it a point, not to miss the opportunity to tee off at the Grey Silo Golf Club. It is the newest stop for the popular LPGA Tour. The municipal golf course provides golfers the opportunity to experience what strategy and shot-making ability is all about in professional golfing. Signature wide fairways beckon and tempt you to hit it straight off the tee. The challenges come in the form of sand traps and water hazards.

Another one of the oldest Kitchener golf courses is the Pike Lake Golf Club. Designed by C.E. Robertson design, this popular course, which was established in 1932, was redesigned recently to give it a modern look. It is located very near to Mount Forest and Harrison. The well-groomed course is a pleasure to play on, but every hole can pose a challenge as the steady winds from Pike Lake do everything possible to rough you up.

GolfNorth Properties offers avid golfers the option of playing affordable golf on some of the best courses in Canada, including the world-famous Kitchener golf courses. They also organize golf tournaments held on top Waterloo golf courses for members.
