When so many bad things, tragedies and accidents occur in life, it is often found that counselling is needed. Unfortunately, there are not that many available and so people often have to wait for months to get this type of help. By then, it is sometimes too late, their lives have spiralled out of control and it takes many more months for them to get back on track – if they ever do.

This makes offering counselling services a good career for those who have a caring nature and want to help others. Often such people become nurses or doctors, but these fields take years of study and not everyone can handle the discipline necessary to achieve such goals. Others cannot afford the cost, or do not have the necessary education to get into university.

But many people grow up in the school of hard knocks and fully understand just what it is like, and what is necessary to survive. These are the people who can offer the best kind of advice and practical help for those who don’t know where else to turn or how to handle what has happened to them.

However, there must be structure and ...
... training if such services are to be offered to the general public. It is wise to undertake counselor courses so that you are truly trained to handle all the problems that come your way. Such courses do not take too long to finish and will help you to delve into the problems that people have more fully, thus enabling you to offer qualified advice that will truly help others.

Once you have a certificate in counselling you will be able to set up your own services or join in with another group that also offers this type of help. It will qualify you to become part of a counselling clinic in a private or government institution, become a school chaplain, or gain employment in many other positions where such skills may be needed. Not only can you help others; you can also help yourself to gain the kind of employment that has a high satisfaction level.

While nursing or being a doctor is good too, those professions require you to be physically fit, but you don’t need to be really fit to offer guidance and advice to other people. You could be a counsellor even if you are confined to a wheelchair. Such courses are usually affordable and only take one or two years to complete. You may also be able to do them long distance or part time to fit in with other work you may be doing.
