Johnny Monsarrat Expands Operation In Boston Globe Building

Boston, MA - Johnny Monsarrat already runs the largest events blog in New England, Events INSIDER, and it got bigger this week with the hire of an arts editor. Based in the Boston Globe headquarters, as a separate organization providing events to the Globe, Events INSIDER's focus is interactivity. They avoid sit down, shut up events such as indoor concerts, but have the largest list of outdoor concerts in Boston and beyond. Every year, Events INSIDER lists 4,000 outdoor summer movies, concerts, and theatre shows. The website is well known for its giant lists of festivals, parades, and oddball events such as the New England Elvis Festival, which draws 50 Elvis re-enactors to a celebration in New Hampshire.
Johnny Monsarrat announced this week that his new arts editor will be Mike Hoban, a longtime journalist and theatre reviewer at Events INSIDER and elsewhere. "We share a similar vision," Johnny Monsarrat said. "We shy away from religious and alcohol events, and prefer off-beat events that are interactive or outdoorsy in some way." Mike's work as the arts editor will include choosing which press releases to run, representing ...
... Events INSIDER to arts organizations to secure promotional ticket giveaways and press reviews, and managing the team of reviewers.
Now in his 8th year as creator and managing editor of Events INSIDER, Johnny Monsarrat will continue to manage research. "We don't like to just sit and wait for press releases to come in," he said. "We go out and discover how amazing the arts are in New England, and then make recommendations to our readers. It's a labor of love."
