From the 17th century and into the present day, conservatories and orangeries have been noted as some of the finest in architecture. Adding in these glass rooms as additions to your home is defined as a symbol of status and prestige. This is defined from the build of the area from glass as well as the ability to use this room for a different look to the home. With this, are present day builds and a redefinition of what it means to have a conservatory or orangery in your home.

Traditionally, conservatories were added in as smaller rooms that were in the front of the building. They were defined by the glass ceiling and windows that took up the entire room, allowing for more sun to come in. Typically, this was used as a lounge area that could be enjoyed by those in the area. Orangeries differed from this as a room that was separate from the house. These were traditionally used to grow citrus fruits, which caused them to have a bigger build and shape. They were also known to combine brick with the glass to make a different look with the architecture.

With these basics in conservatories and orangeries are ...
... new builds that are creating differences between the two concepts. With conservatories, it is expected that a smaller addition will be added to the room to create the right effect. However, orangeries are now moving into more contemporary styles as a simple room that is added on with the brick and glass concept still present. While this is larger then the conservatories, it is able to add value through newer builds that work as additional rooms to the home and that provides more convenience than the complete glass looks from conservatories.

The build between conservatories and orangeries were traditionally used for specific ideals and concepts for those interested in adding onto their home. However, more contemporary approaches to both of these glass rooms are offering different approaches, architectural designs and use of glass for the home. The result is the ability to have a home that offers more room, convenience and an additional lifestyle option so you can enjoy the way the sun comes into your home.
