Why Enterprise Mobile Apps Fail?
An expert business owner once said that because a business owner's sole aim is to create customers, his two most powerful tools are marketing and innovation. However, business owners have developed third - enterprise mobility that comprises of using smart devices and mobile apps. Nonetheless, most of them forget that to make any enterprise app work in business's favour, it is important to infuse two things in it. They are "innovation" and "reach out to customers" as both allow your business to be in the spotlight every time. There are many mistakes that a business owner does while implementing mobility in his business but in this in write-up, I will point out just six of them.
Assuming the needs – More than 99 percent business owners getting an app, spend thousands of dollars in integrating features that they assume will be better for the customers. I say that most enterprise apps fail because business owners fail to study the need of consumers and what features they want to see in your app. If you have even a slightest idea about enterprise apps, you will first get an idea of the most essential features of your business ...
... and how many of them are truly worthy of being placed in an app.
Not considering the ease of use – Doesn’t matter how simple your app is from your point of view, this does not mean that it will be considered simple by your consumers as well. Therefore, instruct your app developer to develop as simple app as possible. Work on the core concept of your app and study the core values, it intends to offer to the consumers. Sorting these questions out will bring a huge difference to the way your app performs for you.
Being cost conscious during infusing graphics – For an app to influence customers straight away, needs attraction. Both history and science say that colours influence our moods. Depending upon the target you want to achieve, you can judge the colour of your app, but most business owners stick with their website's shade for their mobile app as well. The aesthetic of an enterprise app is a major determinant in making people love it or shun it.
Thinking that analytics are for analysts – For business owners it is important to know about the performance of their mobile app. They should also be aware about how people are using their apps because in most cases, it is different from what they expect. Business owners should set goals to track the use of their apps and how people are engaged with it. This data will allow restructuring and modifying of plan accordingly, and developing future strategies accordingly. There are number of analytic software available, so choose the best rather than the first, coming up on the Google search result.
Trying to win the world in a day – Trying to acquire customers from all over the world in just one day is probably the biggest mistake a business owner could make. In my opinion, they should start small and first perfect the local niche before launching the app for global customers. Moreover, they should realize that they couldn't sell their app by staying confined in an air-conditioned chamber. They need to go out, interact with the customers and understand their requirements.
Accepting defeat to early or holding it for too long –After getting an app, continue promoting it and let it work for you for six months and then, after judging its performance, decide whether to continue or call it a failure. But for those six months, give yourself to that app. Additionally, don’t hold it beyond six months because, if your app fails to perform as you have expected in that period, there are lesser chances that it will ever perform.
