They will take you through the process so thoroughly that by the time your book is ready to go, you might just feel like an expert in the field. Beware of websites that don't seem to have a whole lot of information for you to peruse before deciding to give them your money.
And money is important. Any decent self-publishing site will have a variety or pricing structures suitable for any budget. They will have options a-plenty.
There are factors, but if the publishing site doesn't have at least these two things, then it's best to just take your dreams elsewhere.
