The Power Of Story Telling
A lot of us have heard different stories in our lifetimes. There are the various tales told to little children, known as fairy tales. Then there are the word-of-mouth, oral stories told in African countries and all around the globe. Regardless of what form a story is presented, it still engages the mind of the listener and transforms the way he/she thinks about the world around her/himself.
Written stories do two things. They teach the reader how to read a certain style of writing and also teach the reader about the lifestyles the characters live. I like writing stories because of that. I also like writing because I feel I can reach many people through the written word. If you read one of my stories, your life will be changed. I have written many stories in my free time and they only get better. My goal in writing them is to transform a person's mind.
I want to blow a person's mind by writing a great story that he/she will find amusing, entertaining, shocking, and educational. If you don't find those qualities in my story, then I have not done a great job. The reason why I value writing stories a lot is because I ...
... love people learning new things.
Take for instance, this article here. I have written it in easy-to-understand language because I want all people to read it. My stories on the other hand are written in a challenging writing style so that readers can think. I want my readers to be intellectually challenged by my work. If a reader is not intellectually challenged by a piece of writing, he/she would not be training his/her brain well.
When I've read several novels, the ones that I enjoyed the most were those that challenged me. The ones that pushed me to the limit are the ones I loved the most. If I could read the words easily, I didn't like the story. If I felt that I was reading something that a fifth grade child could also read and understand well, I didn't want to continue reading the novel. My goal in writing is to educate people with my writing style.
In summary, I encourage you to read as much as you can. Reading is the best thing you can do to self-improve your situation in life. With reading comes information. With information comes power. Once you have power, you can be very, very successful.
