Color Printing Of Business Cards
People used visiting cards in Europe a few centuries ago. These were actually playing cards on the back of which people signed or wrote sentences to introduce themselves at the houses of noble people and dignitaries. It was a custom used by people of cities of high standard. The practice was not known to most rural people and as well as poor people of even urban areas. Most people did not follow the visiting card system but it was common in people who held the highest status in society and were employed in important positions. At the same time, traders in London and other major cities started using grossly printed cards to show the information of their business location and their main business product. It was mostly done by merchants who hired rental locations to sell their goods and they moved on to other cities once they sold the goods in a particular city during a visit of a few days or weeks. These cards used by merchants were known as trading cards and they were basically used because there were very little marketing options in those old days. With the passage of time, there was a movement in people about equality in mankind ...
... which led to the demise of separate class systems based on wealth or important social position especially after the French Revolution. Traders also started employing other marketing methods to present their businesses. All these factors gradually gave rise to modern business cards.
Business cards contain personal as well as professional information of an individual. It also shows the involvement of a person in a company or shows the company affiliation of the individual who has the business card. These business cards are small in size and usually fit inside a wallet with ease.
Business cards were printed in black in their early days as color printing was relatively new and very expensive in those days. Business cards are printed on thick paper stock which is thicker than writing paper that we commonly use in notebooks and other forms of writing journals. Color printing also appeared for use to print business cards as technology became easily available and the price of printing gradually decreased to a certain manageable level.
Color printing refers to reproducing images or text on a surface in vivid visible colors. Any diagram or scenery can be converted to be represented by three primary colors of red, green and blue. The equal mixing of these colors provides the white color while different mixing proportions give rise to other colors. These colors can be mixed together to make cyan, magenta and yellow secondary colors. Usually these secondary colors are used to print business cards in a four-color combination with black color being used as a key to generate all additional colors and shades in printing.
Business cards can be printed using spot colors of high quality. These are used individually and increase the cost of printing business cards. Four-color printing methods are directly used to print all kinds of colors and details in a business card. Digital printing methods also employ the use of color mixing techniques which are decided by a microprocessor which is installed in a digital printer.
