Gateway to God, Haridwar has emerged as a popular tourist destination in India. Despite its religious significance, Haridwar has earned fame for its splendid landscape and soothing climate. There are several Hindu temples, each with distinguishing factors. One of the most popular temples in this sacred city is Bharat Mata or Mother India temple. This interesting temple is devoted patriotic nationals and was founded by Swami Satyamitranand Giri. The temple is located at the Sapt Sarovar and is about 180 feet tall. It has 8 stories and each floor has specific deity, mythology and legend added to it. Paying homage to the freedom fighters who contributed in freeing India, Bharat Mata temple is a must see in Haridwar.
Har Ki Pauri is another famous spot in Haridwar. This place is considered as the exit point of the Ganges from mountains. Here the river touches the plain land for the first time. Har Ki Pauri is also known as Brahma Kund, this sacred place was built by King Vikramaditya in memory of his brother. The legend has it that place has imprint of Lord Vishnu’s foot on a stone placed in the ghat. A splendid place with lot of positive vibes, Har Ki Pauri is another jewel of the city.
Haridwar can be reached easily by bus. Delhi is amongst the best connecting cities of Haridwar. The total distance between the two destinations is 433kms. There are around 11 private bus operators out of which 8 bus operators offer regular Delhi to Haridwar bus services. Buses from Delhi to Haridwar operate between 09:00 PM to 11:15 PM. Minimum Delhi to Haridwar bus fare is Rs.250 and maximum is around Rs.650.
