There are around 125 inexpensive hotels scattered throughout the area around Khao San Road. Made famous in the novel The Beach, travelers have been drawn to the area for decades now thanks to the cheap accommodation and fun to be found in bars and clubs. Khao San Road has been described as ;the shortest road with the longest dream.

From guesthouses to hotels and resorts, you really are spoiled for choke and it all comes down to what you want and how much you want to spend. A traveler hub of South East Asia, Khao San Road is on the historicRattanakosin Island. Rattanakosin is one of the oldest areas in Bangkok and is located in the PhraNakhon District. The area is home to many places of historical significance.

Khao San Road has developed into a world famous and well-trodden backpackers paradise with tour coaches leaving daily to all the major tourist destinations. It is a few kilometers from attractions such as the Grand Palace, Watt Pho and the National Museum to name a few.

Retailers along the Road sell everything from traditional Thai handcrafts and paintings to clothes, accessories and everything in between. You name it and you will be able to find it on Khao San road.

You will be able to find accommodation to suit your budget from backpacker style share rooms to very reasonably priced and comfortable 3 star hotels that offer all the services you would expect in such a facility such as clean and well-appointed accommodation with air conditioned rooms, swimming pools and bars, gyms, day spas, cafes, shops, cable TV and internet access.

There are a number of Thailands most important historical sites to be seen whilst exploring the area around Khao San Road. Watt (Temple) Pho is one of the oldest and largest temple complexes in Thailand and the birthplace of traditional Thai massage. It is approximately D,OOO square meters and here you can find over a thousand Buddha images including the largest single Buddha, the Reclining Buddha which is loft in length.


The extravagant Grande Palace is made up of numerous buildings and was once the official home of the Kings of Siam which is within walking distance of many of the hotels. Also within walking distance of hotels in the area are other significant sites including the Emerald Buddha, the Marble Temple, the National Museum and the mighty Chao Phraya River which are all must see attractions during your stay in Thailand. And all are located a short walk from most hotels in the area in and around Khao San Road.
