When it comes to getting in shape or getting back in shape I am a firm believer that the machine you buy will make all the difference in the world. Sure, some people are old school and can get away with jumping jacks and push-ups but for me - it's all about the machine. When it comes to exercise and fitness machines available on the market you have various choices. So how do you know which ones are the right choice? What is considered "too expensive?"

What should I buy if I live in an apartment or small space?!? Well that is exactly what this article is going to help you figure out - along with three of the top machines from treadmills, ellipticals and rowers. Personally, I think that these three machines alone will do you a world of good. First off you have the treadmill which is a great piece of equipment to really get your heart racing but it's also much "easier" on your knees and feet than running on an actual road.

With a road you really have no "shocks" just feet against pavement. Every time you pound down on the pavement it sends shock-waves up through your knees, ankles and bones. Not a very good idea if ...
... you already have tenderness in your legs! However, with a treadmill you have a lot of support between your feet and the actual treadmill. Walking has also been proved as being THE easiest way to lose weight.

In fact, with a good healthy diet and three days of walking on a treadmill you could lose up to ten pounds! Pretty amazing. Next in line you have the elliptical which is really great for upper body use and obviously your legs as well. The elliptical is a great machine for people that really want to burn calories super fast.

It also has many different similarities to the treadmill which is why people usually end up buying one or the other - because they both have incredible benefits. The better thing about the treadmill is that they have a lot of them that are "smaller" or fold ups which is great if you don't have a lot of space in your home. Lastly, is the rower - one of my favorite machines. I would suggest and have suggested this machine to people that are already in shape or at least moderately anyway.

The rower can really wear you thin if you are out of shape so this definitely isn't for someone who is just now getting back into shape. Rowers are also excellent pieces of equipment for abdominals, legs, calves and of course your arms, triceps, biceps, etc. Listed below are the top machines within each of the three categories listed above - treadmill, elliptical and rower. These have all been highly rated and are ones I would suggest to you or anyone else. Let's have a look!

Sole Treadmill - This particular treadmill has been voted best home treadmill. Not only is it cost-efficient but it really gets the job done. As said above it is a great piece of equipment for anyone. It doesn't matter your age, body class, experience or sex. Anyone can walk or run on a treadmill and within minutes they will start to feel it "working" its mojo. If you find that buying a Sole treadmill in an offline store is more than you would like to pay I would suggest looking online for a discount Sole treadmill.

Yes, like anything else on the Internet even Sole treadmills can be bought at a fantastic price. If you want to know more about this particular piece of equipment or how to buy sole treadmills I would suggest finding a review site online. These are great little sites because they can tell you ALL about different pieces of equipment - in this case the Sole. You will see benefits, summaries, sole treadmill rating, specs and much more so check the review sites out as much as you can! Sole also has treadmills that fold up so this might be something to look into!

NordicTrack AudioStrider 990 Elliptical - Reviewers say the NordicTrack AudioStrider 990 has excellent features for the money: power incline, iFit workouts, 24 workout programs and a port to plug in an MP3 player. It even folds up to save space. However, owner testimonials on Sears report premature breakdowns and difficulty getting replacement parts. If you have a bit more room in your budget, the Sole E35 (est. $1,300) is a quality machine backed by excellent customer service, according to reviewers. While this elliptical is a little expensive it too can be bought online or on NordicTrack for a good price as well.

Bodycraft vr100 Rower - Bodycraft has a nice rowing machine in the VR 100. It's unique in for the fact that combines both air and magnetic resistance. Now you don't have to choose which one you like better, get both types of resistance on one machine. Bodycraft is known for solid home gyms, and they've taken what they learned and applied it to their vr100 rowing machine with good results. Unlike most other cheap rowers, the Bodycraft doesn't suffer from the usual maladies like cord whiplash and poor ergonomics. This rower should provide a positive rowing workout for tall and short users alike.

Overall if you really want to get into shape the first step is to take a look at the different products you can start investing in. Remember, this isn't just a one-time thing. Getting fit and staying healthy is a lifetime experience and something you will have to keep up with. This is another reason I suggest the above-mentioned products. While you might spend a little more than anticipated it will be well worth its weight in gold.

Remember to look at the review sites - they are a great place to get a lot of information and a ton of useful reviews! Chances are you will find the three above really are a superb investment! Good luck in buying your new machine and remember to have fun!
