Exactly What Is Screen Play Writing
What is Screen Play Writing?
A screen play can be about anything as long as the concept is something that will give emotion to those watching it. When you have an idea of a story, you can put it down on paper and begin screen play writing. The idea is to write a screenplay in such a way that will feel real to someone reading or watching your story.
How To Script Write?
Your story can be fictional or non fictional. When writing a script that is non fictional, you will require the copyright to be approved first. As a beginner, you may want to start with a fictional story that is simple to understand. Pick a genre before you start writing as this is significant to producers and directors. They want to know the genre before they start a new screen play. At the same time they need to know the rating of your screen play. This is why its a good idea to choose the rating before you actually start writing.
What Is The Length A Script?
Usually you will want to aim for 90 to 100 pages for your script while using 12 size font. Scripts that are 90 minutes long will be around 90 pages. As a standard measure, ...
... think of it as 1 page for 1 minute of screenplay. The font used can be Courier New.
What Kind Of Screenplay Format Can You Use?
A typical screen play writing format can have a new slug line every time the scenes change. What a slug line does is describe the location and time of the day. Usually, you will see a hyphen to separate the day and time.
The screen play should describe the action of the characters in the present tense. The words should also describe the pace of action.
The name of the main character is written in capital letters and is 3.7 inches from the left. Dialogues are placed 6 inches from the left edge of the page.
You will require a cover page that will have the name of your script in caps and centrally aligned. The size of the paper is 8.5 x 11 inches with a 1.5 inches margin from the left with the other three at 1 inch.
When writing the dialogue of a character, you should keep it single spaced while double spacing everything else. The scenes should not be numbered and do not include directions for the characters.
Can You Change Your Screenplay As You Go Along?
Its possible to change scenes as you go along, but it can be difficult to change the genre or theme. Know what is allowed for the rating that you chose to write under. It will make scriptwriting more enjoyable.
