There are some two models that are used in the production of automatic airsoft guns. The automatic guns in question here are meant to facilitate the (primary/essential) gun firing aspect of airsoft. That is against a background where airsoft is supposed to simulate (to the most realistic extent possible) the workings of a battleground. Such simulation, naturally, necessitates the use of guns: but these have to be non-lethal guns, otherwise the whole thing can become very risky. The airsoft guns we are making reference to in this discussion, then, come into the picture at this point: being as they are, realistic-looking guns that, however, are incapable of causing harm. They are incapable of causing harm because instead of accommodating the ordinary lethal bullets, they work with specially made, realistic-looking, but non-lethal non-metallic pellets. Further enquiry reveals that there are automatic and non-automatic versions of such airsoft guns. Our focus is on the automatic ones: as we venture to explore the two models used in the production of such guns.

The first model used in the production of automatic airsoft guns ...
... is that in which the company owning the brand does the production in-house. You come to learn that some of the companies involved in the automatic airsoft guns business have their own factories. So upon coming up with designs for new airsoft guns, they are able to implement such designs in-house, in order to end up doing the manufacturing aspect as well. Setting up factories that are capable of producing these guns costs quite a bit of money. But the big-time players in the airsoft guns business are able to marshal the necessary resources. And having their own production facilities makes it possible for them to gain some competitive advantage. That is how, for instance, we end up with some companies being able to introduce very cheap airsoft pistols into the market. To be more specific, the companies in question are able to save the money they’d have used to pay a contracted manufacturer. They then pass on those savings to their customers: the end result being a situation where they are able to introduce the mentioned cheap airsoft guns into their respective markets.

The second model used in the production of automatic airsoft guns is that in which the company owning the brand outsources the production: such that the production ends up being done externally. Under this scheme, the companies owning the brands just come up with the blueprints/designs for the production of the guns. These are then passed on to the contract manufacturers, who implement them, to end up with the tangible guns (even if the owners of the brand don’t actually have their own manufacturing facilities).

The second model can, in some cases, lead to the reduction of production costs: especially in cases where the manufacturers who are contracted happen to be operating in places where production costs are significantly low. Subsequently, we end up with a situation where some of the vendors of cheap airsoft pistols operate under this model.
