Temperature can alter your tuning a lot so make sure you tune it just before the Singing Contest begins and as close as you can to the stage. Never do it on the stage in front of the audience. If you have to for some odd reason then do it.


Always thank the band and the judges. That is just good manners and can go a long way. Keep it short and always keep it real.


You want to wear something nice to the Singing Contestbut don’t think you have to dress to impress. If you are auditioning in more than one section, it is still better to pick one outfit and stick with it. Multiply clothing changes are a waste of time. It will help the judges and the audience remember you. It can also lead to unecessary delays with people who are competing in the same sections. Others will make that mistake by doing a change of clothes and or make-up.
