There are three major types of guns that you can use in airsoft, a game that simulates a real-life military or paramilitary battleground. The said three major types of guns that you can use are airsoft spring airsoft guns, electric airsoft guns and gas airsoft guns. Our focus here is on the spring airsoft guns: as we try to understand the pros and cons of using them. Worth mentioning is the fact that the spring guns in question here are quite popular. It is worth noting, for instance, that a substantial percentage of all airsoft rifles in operation turn out to be spring powered. Indeed, there are people who are likely to assume that, by definition, airsoft rifles are spring powered. But that wouldn’t be entirely true: given the fact that there may be some airsoft rifles that are gas powered and some airsoft rifles that are electric powered. What defines the spring-powered airsoft riffles (and all other types of spring airsoft guns) is the mechanism through which they operate. That is where we come to learn that these are purely mechanical guns: in which the pellets are fired through kinetic energy that is stored in the springs ...
... contained in the guns. So the guns have to be manually worked, to generate the kinetic energy that then propels the pellets when fired.

Starting with the pros of using spring airsoft guns, we come to learn that one advantage is that they don’t require to be charged, unlike electric airsoft guns. This also means that the people who opt to use these particular guns don’t have to worry about replacing batteries. Secondly, the spring guns can be used even at low temperature, unlike the gas airsoft guns, that are of little use in low temperature conditions.

Turning to the cons of using spring airsoft guns, we come to learn that one disadvantage is that they are single shot guns. This means that you can’t fire two shots simultaneously, without first stopping to power up the gun again. In this respect, the spring guns are unlike the electric guns, which tend to allow users to fire severally, in a way simulating the real-world automatic guns. Another disadvantage is in the very fact we have mentioned that they have to be manually powered, before they can fire. This means the people using them can’t focus fully on the firing aspect, as the powering aspect keeps on coming up as a distraction. Yet another disadvantage is that they don’t look as sophisticated as, say, the electric airsoft guns. This is important to people who care much about appearances.

In the final analysis, it becomes clear that there is an upside and a downside to using the spring airsoft guns. Whether or not one ends up using these particular guns depends on several things. It, for one, depends on the sort of experience one is looking for, in airsoft. It also depends on how much one is ready to spend on airsoft riffles. Finally, it depends on what is available in one’s locality: though this shouldn’t be too much of an issue, especially given the fact that nowadays, there is always the option of buying the exact type of guns one needs online.
