If You Had To Choose One Place To Spend Your Time

Let's face it, as busy entrepreneurs, we just don't have all the time or all the money we would like to promote our businesses. And even if you do have a decent marketing and advertising budget, many times a large portion of that goes toward traditional advertising, or at the very least, paid online advertising. So with what little money yu might have, or what limited time you can a lot yourself, what do you do?
The answer to that question is a difficult one. After all, with so many options, each one having different results and techniques, it's hard to know what to do or where to start. In this article, we will try to answer this question. This is not meant to be the final word, this is just our opinion based on research, experience and visible results. But if we had to pick one area of online marketing to focus all your energies on at once, it would have to be article marketing.
So let's explore three broad questions: What is article marketing? Why article marketing? And of course, how to do article marketing?
What is article marketing?
This is a fairly straight-forward question. Article marketing is ...
... the act of writing a semi-short informational piece on a particular subject of interest to a broad audience and then putting a link at the bottom to your website, other articles, social media or wherever you'd like your reader to go next.
It seems simple enough, right? And it can be, so long as you go about it the right way. What is really exciting is that there are many, many websites who allow you to publish article content for free. The only requirement is that you follow their brief guidelines for authors and that you publish writing that is of true value and of real use to the reader.
Why article marketing?
There are several very good reasons for publishing articles online. First, this is a great traffic generator. And what's more, this traffic is usually of a very high quality. You see, because of the ever growing number of articles posted on these sites, they are getting indexed in searches more and more often. In fact, in many cases, the first page of a Google search might reveal almost entirely a bunch of articles rather than websites. So of course, the more articles you publish on a wider and wider range of subjects, the more likely that something you have written will come up in a search.
The reason for this is simple. The search engine programming is designed to provide the searcher with the most useful and relevant content possible. It can tell when something is of real help, and thus pushes that content higher up in search results.
The second reason you want to market with articles is that you are creating high-quality links from high-ranked websites to your own website. This is one of the top 4 most important search engine optimization and ranking methods you need to employ to get better search rankings.
Another reason, tied to both of the above, is that in addition to search engine results, you are also attracting a lot of attention from those users who are actually searching on the article sites for information. And this goes back to why the traffic you generate is so good. If a person reads an article you wrote about something they find interesting or useful, and they click through to your website, you know that this person is really interested in what you have to sell. They may or may not buy, but the point is, they are what is known as a qualified lead.
There are a bunch more reasons why article marketing is powerful, but let's look at one more for now: The more you do it, the more you get noticed, the more yu get noticed, the more traffic you get. It's kind of a self-perpetuating cycle. The more articles you publish, the more they get read. The more they get read, the more visible they become in searches and the more they get read. Pretty confusing, in a way, but very very cool. The more prolific a writer you are, or the more your hired writer writes, the more attention you will garner and the more your already published works will grow in popularity as well.
How to proceed in article marketing?
This question really deserves its own article, and has gotten it from many authors, but let's quickly review the steps. First, write an article which is genuinely helpful and appeals to a wide audience in one of the topic categories on your article sites. Remember to include a resource link with the article at the end. Most article sites will give you a resource box space to fill in, but if not, paste your resource links at the bottom of the article body.
Now, craft a good keyword title and make sure that your body has a lot of good short and long tail keywords in it. Remember, though, you are writing for human beings, so use keywords, but use them naturally. If you just start throwing in random keywords, not only will you turn off your reader, but the search engines will penalize the content as well, if it is even allowed to go live on the article site. It's a tricky line, but one that must be walked.
Thirdly, if you're getting started, try to find topics in which there are not many postings. This is because you will have to publish less in these categories to get an expert status in them. But don't stick to this too strictly. After all, if your expertise lies in website design, and there are already a lot of those types of articles out there, so what. Write what you know best, because it will show.
