21 cards rummy game, also known as Marriage rummy is one of the most popular rummy variant and is pretty popular among the pros of the game. The game tests a person’s mental skills and provides an opportunity to meet new people and socialize, and is therefore well acknowledged in India. In 21 cards rummy game, each player deals with 21 cards. The standard method of playing a rummy game still applies. The players are required to prepare 3 pure sequences of minimum 3 cards each. The rest of the cards can be made into impure sequences and sets i.e. these sequences can be made using a joker. These can be of 3 or 4 cards. In case of a pure sequence, if a player fails to prepare 3 sequences then the entire hand is counted as points, with exception of pure sequences and jokers. Marriage Rummy can be played online following the rules of offline rummy i.e. the nomenclature, arrangement and the model of declaration remains the same. However, the standard rules of online rummy game apply to this game too. 21 cards rummy game has an advantage over other rummy games. Here, the player possessing the value cards gets additional points. Since the player has a full hand, his losses are minimized. The value cards are always honored first. The points vary from 0 to 120 thus ensuring that the maximum points a player gives out in one hand is 240. The rules of the players change when they wish to opt for drop/leave seat.

Initial drop leads to a penalty of 30 points. In this case no values are honored in the hands of the person opting for the initial drop or values in hand of other players on table. A middle drop leads to a penalty of 75 points but all values- either in the hands of the person opting for initial drop or values in hand of other players on the table are honored in this case. If the player chooses “leave seat”, he cannot participate when a new game starts. On opting for “exit room” full points (120 points) are levied. No values are honored either in hands of the player opting for initial drop or other players on the table. Like cut joker, even these cards cannot be picked from the pile except the very first time.
