How Cabinet Refacing Is Done
You instantly call the company you have chosen to do the cabinet refacing in your kitchen. You sign the contract. You pay. They do the work. That’s how easy it has been for you being the customer. Everything is laid out for your convenience. You easily step away and look at the whole scenario as an observer, like a third person completely detached to the little details of the beautification process of your kitchen. But haven’t you thought of staying closer? Haven’t you had the urge to observe and be more involved of the project? Aren’t you a bit curious how the whole thing is done? That slight nod you are doing right now means yes. So here’s what you need to know.
Step 1
First things first. Initially, cabinet measurements are collected for the purpose of pre-ordering materials that will be used along the cabinet refacing process. Construction companies always make sure they take the needed dimensions to avoid wasting excess bits and pieces.
The goal is for the workers to transform the look of the kitchen cases into an updated version through the replacement of old coverings. They start by evaluating ...
... the needed accessories and molds. They also take off the doors and headers of cabinets and drawers. What’s good about this is that you don’t need to transfer all the contents to another area out of the kitchen. They can basically stay in place while the project is being done.
Step 2
Cabinet refacing experts cut wooden or plastic veneers according to the dimensions gathered. Most of the time, they add a little allowance on the cut outs for the purpose of placing them better on the structures. However, before the veneers are installed, the installers make sure the surfaces are sanded and rubbed with alcohol for a better adhering effect. Most of the time, they start installing the vertical strips, which are then followed by the horizontal pieces and then the dividers respectively. After which, the lamination gets done. It is an intricate process that experts make the whole thing look brand new and seamless.
Step 3
After the lamination of cabinet and drawers, what’s next? Of course, leaving the cases open is not a good idea, so it’s only right to proceed on having the cabinet and drawer fronts fixed. Before they are attached back, installers still take their time to replace broken knobs, handles and hinges. Also, they try to give it a glossy furnish. Further, it is a prerequisite that they make sure the color and pattern used for the openings match exactly with the basic structure for consistency. Voila! There you have it. Your cabinet refacing project is done. Your kitchen cabinets will now look good as new!
Now, you are more aware what goes on in a week or less in the premises of your kitchen while it is in a refacing period! You may not be physically involved, but at least you know better! I take my hat off to those who take their time to understand the hullabaloos of cabinet refacing.
