Gambling may be described as wagering of money or anything which is of material value on an event with an unknown outcome, the primary intent being to win additional money.

Gambling may be described as wagering of money or anything which is of material value on an event with an unknown outcome, the primary intent being to win additional money. Gambling therefore requires three things to be present for it to happen; consideration, chance and prize. Whenever you take that chance of losing money or belongings then you are gambling. Whether you win or lose will directly depend on chance.

So basically you are not sure of the outcome. Gambling has grown at an unprecedented rate over the years and has become an increasingly popular recreational activity. While this activity was once illegal and viewed as a notorious activity, communal norms have shifted and now gambling is a multi-million dollar industry in countries like the United States and Canada. Surveys have indicated that the common population really favors funding charities, health care as well as other initiatives through the funds that are made from gambling. ...

What are the forms of gambling?
While some may consider gambling to be associated with racetracks and casinos, there are other numerous activities that are considered gambling. Such activities may include:

a) Sports Betting
This is an activity of prediction of results then placing a wager on the outcome and is normally considered a form of gambling. Apart from the simple wagers such as betting a friend that ones favorite team will win, sports betting in normally performed through bookmarkers or other online internet outlets that exist. There are many types of bets which include straight, proposition, progressive parlays, and many others. Players usually place their bets on a soprtsbook where different sports events can be bet on.
b) Bingo (Card Game)
This is a card game played with a bridge deck of 52 cards with the dealer giving each players an equal number of cards. The cards are held in the hand placed face in front of the players. A round of play consists of betting, and then the dealer turns over one of the center cards, so that it faces upwards. Any card in the players hand having the same rank value as that of the center card just turned are then revealed and discarded. The discards can be placed in front of the players facing up. Betting continues until a player has all his cards knocked off his hand.
C) Lottery
This is a form of gambling that involves drawing of lots for a prize which may be a certain amount of money. The money may be taxable if it exceeds a certain amount and depends also on the country or state in which the lottery is drawn. Lottery has been outlawed by some governments while others endorse it.

d) Slot Machines
This is a casino gambling machine having three or more reels that spin whenever a button is pushed. They include a currency detector which validates the money inserted to play. The machine awards the winner basing on the patterns of symbols seen on the front of the machine when it stops. These machines are the most popular gambling method in casinos and constitute almost 70% of the average casinos income in the US.
