Pinhole Glasses: One Eyewear For All Your Vision Problems
Pinhole glasses are an easy, fairly inexpensive way for a person to greatly improve his vision. While they are not approved as a means of correcting poor eyesight by the FDA in the United States, they have been used as far back as Ancient Greece to correct nearsightedness and astigmatism.
Pinhole glasses work by concentrating the amount of light that hits a person's cornea. Lenses are made of opaque or metal materials, and there are small holes which allow light to pass through them. The result on the eye is much the same as when a person squints, but with less concentration from peripheral rays of light entering a person's eye. The resulting picture is taken in by the cornea without as much outside interference, and the result is clearer vision. These types of glasses are said to correct all types of vision problems--from nearsightedness to farsightedness to astigmatism.
There are a variety of theories as to why the United States will not approve pinhole glasses as a legitimate means of correcting vision. Some say there is a conspiracy against pinhole ...
... glasses. In 1992, there was an injunction against a New York-based company for providing "aerobic eyeglasses" which claimed to strengthen the eye. Due to pressure on the FDA by optometrists and opthalmologists, the aerobic eyeglasses were pulled, and the FDA would not support their use as a legitimate means of correcting a person's vision.
Pinhole glasses come in an array of styles and materials. Some resemble fashion sunglasses which can be worn outside at any time of the day. Others appear to be speckled with holes throughout the "lenses" and are only supposed to be worn for a few minutes a day in order to help improve a person's vision over time. They can cost anywhere from a few dollars to a few hundred dollars depending on the material and quality of the glasses. Most can be found in overseas retailers who will ship to the United States, but there are some online retailers who will ship from within the United States to help bring you the products you want.
