Elements Of Successful Website Sales Copy
Want to know how to write effective web copy? If so, then you've landed on the right page! Writing good website copy isn't something that is particularly. The best to go about it is to work smart, not hard. And one of the things that you can use to work smarter when it comes to copywriting is having something called a "swipe file".
A swipe file is simply a collection of ads and sales letters that have been proven to work for business owners time and time again. There are a lot of swipe files online. Some of them are free, but the best ones you will have to pay for. But don't worry - it won't cost that much. Most people who sell the best ones are only asking around $20 for it. But this is cheap compared to the wisdom, knowledge, and training that you will get from the swipe file.
Aside from a swipe file, there are other things that you can do to make sure you are writing the best sales copy as possible. Copywriting for the internet and copywriting in the offline world are kind of different. They aren't "too" different - but they are different enough to treat them both separately.
When writing copy online, you ...
... get to add as much graphical elements to your page as possible. It won't cost you any printing fees, you can lead lots of people to your site for free, and you don't have to pay any money to send out your sales letter. All you have to do is lead people directly to your page.
When writing copy offline, there all kinds of costs that are involved. First you have to mail out a test quantity of 5,000 letters to get any real significant cost. That's 5,000 letters multiplied by 5,000 stamps. That's your first cost. You might as well get a pen and paper out because the list of costs goes on and one.
You have to pay for a printer to print your letters up to you. You have to pay for envelopes. You have to pay for the list that you buy. And you may have to pay a lot for the list - depending on how targeted you want your list to be. Now this is a good idea, but understand that you will pay a lot more the more specific you get with your list selection.
And then, there's the issue of writing the sales copy. Who will write it for you? Will hire a $10,000 copywriter, or will you write the amateur copy yourself? It's quite easy to go broke just on the copywriting fee alone. This is why you will want to learn how to write effective copywriting for yourself.
I'm not trying to discourage you from pursuing your online endeavors... I just want you to understand that writing website copy is tough, and that you will need a good one if you want to make lots of sales everyday in your business. Trust me when I tell you this - if there's anybody who would know, it's ME.
Good luck with developing the sales copy for your website.
