As the tag line (and the title of this article) of pinhole glasses suggest, pinhole eyeglasses are the new revolution in the field of eyeglasses. Previously only the prescription glasses were used in order to cure diseases of eyes like myopia, hyperopia, presbyopia, astigmatism, computer vision syndrome or cataracts. But now, this new type of glasses are very much effective for these diseases.

The basic idea behind the pinhole glasses is that they are not made by using glasses instead they are made by using plastic for making the lenses which are fitted into metal or plastic frames. Pinhole glasses are made by using plastic and then small holes are being made into these glasses of diameter 1mm to 1.5mm with very small gap between each hole.

To understand the concept of these pinhole eyeglasses we must first be aware of how an eye processes an image. Firstly, the light enters our eye through cornea at different angles which is then concentrated on the pupil and then is ...
... focused on the retina. Ifthe ray does not fall exactly on retina, and instead falls behind or in front of retina, then we get a blurred image. To solve this problem, wearing pinhole glasses reduces the diversity of the angles by which light falls on the cornea. Thus, it becomes easy to concentrate the beam of light on the retina and in this way the vision improves.

Now, as we are aware of how the pinhole glasses work we will look at certain other features of these glasses and how they are capable in resolving other eye defects. As compared to the prescription glasses these are not only an alternative but are better then prescription glasses in many ways. Pinhole glasses improve the vision and clarity of the eyes to a great extent and also improves the brightness. It also provides good vision at all distances. Aside from this, it is also light weight, durable and you can get them in many attractive designs. One of the best features of pinhole glasses is that you do not need to change to strong power lenses as in case of prescription glasses. Rather you can use them for your whole life or until they break. Even if you get scratches on pinhole glasses it will not affect your vision.
