A good freelancer can save you time and stress, but a bad one can cost you lots of money. Find out how and where to get the best freelancers on the Internet.
Owning an online business can be fun, challenging, and profitable. The hardest part of creating an online business is the actual creation of the website. Although many online entrepreneurs are gifted with the skills necessary to create an appealing website, a great majority are not. Should this stop you from owning an online business? Of course not! This is the reason "god" created freelancers. A freelancer is someone who is an expert in a given field that you can hire on a per job basis. If you want to run an online business, but can't program a website, then a freelancer web designer is someone you need to find.
Many websites have been created to match freelancers with potential clients. GetAFreelancer.com and ScriptLancer.com are two of the more popular freelance websites. In order to find a freelancer on these websites you just need to post a project description (i.e. what you want the freelancer to build), and freelancers from around the world bid on your ...
... project. The only thing you have to do is pick the freelancer you feel will do the best job for the best price. Sound easy? Well, it is and it isn't.
Before you pick a freelancer, you should take the following precautions to ensure the freelancer is honest and dependable.
Scenario: Let's say you post a project and a freelancer makes a bid and promises great things.
"Hello, at MicroGraphx we can build a website that will exceed all of your expectations."
Do you immediately trust the freelancer? The answer, of course, is no. Before accepting any bids, type the freelancer's name in Google (also try MSN and Yahoo). Chances are, if they have ripped someone off in the past, someone made a post about it.
Search Terms:
1. Freelancer's name (ie Edward Lawing)
2. Freelancer's company (ie MicrographX)
3. Freelancer's name + scam ( ie. Edward Lawing scam)
4. Freelancer's company name + scam (Micrographx Scam)
Once you have confirmed that no one has posted any alarming stores on your potential freelancers, simply accept the most affordable bid. It should only be a few days from this point until you have your online business running and making you money.
Final words of advice:
• Do not make payment upfront. Make sure the website is complete before payment is made.
• Make sure the freelancer understand you want the website eventually hosted on your own server.
• COMMUNICATE, COMMIUNICATE, COMMUNICATE
