The Wayanad Silver Woods Resort captivates the panoramic view of the Banasura hill of the Western Ghats. This resort promotes the strategy of Go Green. Not only does this resort break the urban monotony but it also makes environmentally-conscious because of its green and sustainable features. The resort embeds human with nature.
Sri Lankan-based architect Anton Jacob fuses natural surrounding with his design sensibilities for Wayanad Silver Woods Resort.
The resort ensures sustainability of environment health-site development, saving of water, energy efficiency, selection of materials and indoor environment quality.
The resort is a joint venture of four friends with Merchant Navy background and travel experiences namely Benny John (MD), C Raghunathan, Sekhar Govindan and Capt.Vasudevan Anil Kumar. The vision of all promoters was clubbed with green and sustainable ideas.

The Architecture
Anton Jacob began with integrating the natural backdrop into his design. The reception space has been done with wood and stone while the massive terracotta mural depicts Wayanad’s precious treasure- the wild bison, ...
... reptiles etc. The reception lobby with unfinished granite and terracotta tile is the beginning of the design flow that continues in most spaces of resort.
Natural light has been captured through sky lighters with glass at points on the slopping roof marked by wooden beams allowing minimum use of electric lights. The huge French glass window with sliding is an added feature for trapping light and capture the beautiful view. The wooden louvers above the window ensure cooling.
External painting is done by using mud paint and the inside walls have procured potters clay mixed with binders to evolve a grey textured paint. Attangudi tiles were used for flooring and the Woods used for furnishing was made of kunni wood, bamboo and coconuts.
The whole point was to keep the topography intact. Since the whole site is a part of the hill with three sides surrounded by water, the functional protocol was to keep main amities at the top and delicately placing a series of cottages in the next two lower levels which gives ample view into the lake maintaining privacy for each cottage at the same time allow the water supply to flow by gravity into the ring of cottages placed below.
