Where Can I Travel In Mozambique?
Traveling is one of the most exciting outdoor activities and whenever you get the chance or time, have in hand a number of remarkable places to explore. How about Africa, the land of diverse culture, wildlife and tropical sandy beaches? You can opt for Mozambique, beautiful Mozambique, located in southeastern Africa. The total population here exceeds 21 million and the natives manly speak Portuguese although you will find other unofficial languages like Swahili, Mukhuwa among many others. You can get here by plane through the capital, Maputo or by rail and road through neighboring countries. Getting around Mozambique is no trouble as there are various domestic flights around the main cities and the many buses and taxis can get you where you want to go or you can opt to hire a private car.
Start at Maputo, one of Africa's fascinating cities. It will give you wide avenues, relaxed street cafes and a lively cultural scene. Take a look at the city museum and market; they are worth your time, and so are the Central Railway Station and curious ‘Iron House'. Mozambique's protected parks are jewels like the Gorongosa National Park, it gives so. Expect superb bird watching, and glimpses of buffalo, elephant, hippos, zebra and more. The coastal tropics of Mozambique are worth your time; you can start at the stunning Bazaruto Archipelago, it's a must see. It comprises of five tropical islands plus surrounding islets and coral reefs. This beautiful and remarkable area features white sandy beaches, clear waters and rich marine life including the dugong (manatee). The Inhaca Island offers beaches, reefs, a historic lighthouse and a museum of marine biology. The vibrant coastal town of Pemba is just exciting. It has some wonderful beaches and coral reefs the most popular one being Wimbe which claims an interesting old town, some lively bars and good restaurants. The sunny and balmy sea waters of Quirimbas National Park host a number of activities like snorkel and deep sea diving. You'll appreciate the park's abundant marine life and coral reefs and diverse land-bound wildlife.
Ample accommodations vary in Mozambique. You can find hotels of international standard mainly in the cities of Maputo and Biera. Other modest dwellings include holiday cottages, bungalows and rondavels (traditional circular dwellings) that are quite affordable and comfortable. There are also campsites along the beaches, and a rest camp with a restaurant in Gorongosa Game Park. As far as hostels are concerned, there are only two which are in Maputo and Praia do Tofo, Inhambane. Dining spots in Mozambique are mainly centered in the main towns and hotels, most of which are restaurants and the cuisine is mainly Portuguese with Far East influences.
Nightlife in Mozambique is lively and appealing especially at the capital, Maputo. During the weekends, the city comes to life and you will find most people at the Feira. It's a popular environment that comprises of evening activity with various bars and discos, some with live music. The music in clubs varies from typical Mozambican rhythms to Western pop music. Cinemas can also be found at most major towns. If you fancy souvenirs, most shops sell basketwork, reed mats, woodcarvings, masks, printed cloth and leather articles. Mozambique takes pride in her culture, people and many noticeable attractions and you can join the diversity that is Mozambique.
