How To Successfully Revamp Your Bedroom
Most of us can think of little better than retreating to our bedrooms last thing at night, in order to relax and wind down after a long day. This article gives advice on revamping your bedroom so it looks and feels just as you want it to.
If your bedroom is looking a little tired, it could be time for a makeover. There are lots of reasons why you should think about revamping your bedroom if you're not entirely happy with it. This is where you retire to each day, so it's good to have a nice relaxing room to look forward to going to sleep in.
The best way to get the bedroom you've always wanted is to strip things right back to the bare bones. You can do this by de-cluttering it if need be, taking pictures off the walls and simply sitting and looking at the room through new eyes. You should start with the colour scheme. Since this is your bedroom and it should be a relaxing space, think of calm colours. Pastels and natural colours work best. Get some colour samples and paint a few patches on the walls so you can consider which colour scheme to go for.
The next step is to think about how you will decorate the ...
... room. Do you want a feature wall that is a different colour to all the rest? Would you rather paint the ceiling a different colour, or are you using a light shade that would look good everywhere? Some people opt for a feature wall using wallpaper rather than paint. This looks good on a chimney breast as well as on the wall behind the head of the bed.
And this brings us neatly to the furniture. If you are changing your current furniture you should think about the style you want to go for. Do you want French bedroom furniture, modern furniture or antique style furniture? Your choice can help influence the style and design of the room, as is true with French furniture. By this stage you should find you are starting to get a proper idea of what your room will look like once it is finished. You should also know how you will arrange your French furniture, or whatever style of furniture you are going to go for. Will you keep your bed in the same position it is in at the moment or will you change things around a bit?
You then need to clear the room in readiness for decorating. Make sure you have plenty of time to devote to doing it - a weekend off or longer would be good if you have a large bedroom to decorate. You may want to sleep elsewhere while you are doing this, as you don't want the smell of paint or the upheaval of sleeping in the middle of paint pots and brushes to cope with!
Whatever you decide to do, whether you go for French bedroom furniture or something else entirely, you can see that planning ahead is a good move for revamping your bedroom. It will make the decorating process easier to manage as you will know exactly where you are heading for. Once you are finished you can enjoy the new surroundings you have to sleep in.
